Pressure Cooking 101

What is the Quick Cooker?

The Pampered Chef Quick Cooker is an electric pressure cooker and can also be used as a slow cooker.

Is the Pampered Chef Quick Cooker worth it?

It has 16 different functions and state of the art safety features and cooks everything 70% faster. When you think how much it costs to eat out with a family, you can easily pay for the quick cooker with the same money you would spend eating out 4-5 times. To get it at a discount, you can host a virtual Pampered Chef party. Here’s what it’s done for me:

What can you cook in it?

You can cook pastas, soups, stews, meats, poultry, seafood, rice, beans, vegetables and more. There are so many things that you can use it for. And much of it in a hands-off way after you put the ingredients in.

Some of my favorite ways to use it are for spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, chicken wild rice soup, chili, winter squash, baked potatoes, pot roast and potatoes, and beef stew. You can find these recipes and others in my cookbook, Dinner, Done! as well as on my blog post entitled “Pampered Chef Quick Cooker Recipes“.

How to get started with the Quick Cooker?

If you would like a full run through of how it works from start to finish, here is my full “Pressure Cooker 101” class for you to learn from.

Is the Quick Cooker safe to use?

In my opinion, this is the safest electric pressure cooker on the market. It has several safety features that make it stand out:

  • The outer material is doubly-lined plastic and not metal so you will not get burned when you touch it.
  • The way you release the steam is with a button rather than with your fingers to prevent burns.
  • The handles for moving it to another counter are located on the lower end of the pressure cooker so the lid will not detach when you are transporting it.

Can you use the Quick Cooker for canning?

No, it is an electric pressure cooker, not an electric pressure canner.

How do you use the Quick Cooker as a slow cooker?

You can set it to the slow cook setting and press start and it will begin the slow cooking process.

What comes with the Quick Cooker?

It comes with a 6 quart pot, a tripod rack to sit inside the pot, a cookbook and instruction manual. There are many accessories available as well on my Pampered Chef site. Here’s a look at what it comes with.

How do you clean the Quick Cooker?

It is super easy to clean. Remove the pot to either hand wash or place in the dishwasher. If there is residue, Bar Keepers Friend or Norwex Cleaning Paste works great to shine it up. Wipe down additional drips around the edges of the lid. You can also clean the valves – here’s how:

How do you sear in the Quick Cooker?

You can use it to sear your foods without using an additional pan. Hello, time savings! Here’s how:

How long does it take for it to preheat?

It can take anywhere between 2-10 minutes for it to preheat. It depends on the temperature of the food you are putting inside.

Can I leave the Quick Cooker unattended?

Using it is a hands-off way of cooking. So you do not need to watch it while it cooks.

Will the Quick Cooker explode under pressure?

I have never heard of one exploding in 5 years.
